I left Manchester Art school with a BA in Fine Art Painting and an MA in Public Art (Bolton University) before embarking on a career in teaching via Art Galleries and Museums in the North West of England. In 2014 I moved to rural France to renovate an old farmhouse, live more self-sufficiently and re-open my studio
Ecological issues around self-sufficiency, low-impact living and organic food growing have been prominent threads underpinning my creative practice since 1999.
Soil health continues to influence my work.

I make my own clay body by combining discarded potters clay, wild clay from my land, paper pulp and kaolin. This small-scale production defines the natural lifecycle of each collection. When the clay is gone, that body of work is ended and the whole process starts again. Before getting to the kiln, my ceramics are either dried in the sun or over the wood-burning fire, adding to my energy consciousness.
I single fire to 1040c
I hand-build the vessels and sculpt the apples before applying layers of coloured slip, re cycled copper wire and finally firing to 1040c
